What should be a simple task is not so simple when you relate SEO marketing to the internet world. Networking on the web is simple and fast, but try too hard and you will get penalized by the major search engines. If your SEO efforts are bringing your rank down you may want to read the following list to see if you are guilty of any of these behaviors, if you are immediately delete them from your practice book!
Duplicitous content
At the time it may have seemed like a great idea to submit the same article to dozens of submission websites, but a search engine spider will easily catch this and determine that the articles are fradualant. A large part of SEO is gaining recognition as an authoritative online source, and copying yourself or anyone else’s work for that matter will hurt you.
Blatant spamming misconstrued as link building
Link building is a very essential part of building your rank, but if you are papering the Internet with your fliers much like a nightclub before singles night you are going to lose your integrity online. Carefully placed links on high authority websites that are related to your topic will help you, but links on any page that will allow you to post will only destroy you.
Common keyword phrases
Keywords are great, but choose the wrong phrase and you may be doomed from the start. Would you expect to enter the phrase German dogs and find out about how to train your Shepherd? No, and “dogs” as a keyword certainly will not get you any closer. Direct your phrase and keep it simple, German shepherd training will be more effective any day over the previous example.
