Every time that Google changes the way that Panda works webmasters cringe a little bit inside because it means that they have to change the way that they perform their search engine optimization. However, this year was worse than before when Google chose to change its algorithm again creating what is now known as the terror Panda. However, there are a few things that can be altered that are not so hard that can prevent your website from getting torn apart by Panda, and these few changes are worth learning how to do.
It is easiest to start by taking a look at how Panda works because with four updates already down chances are there will be more. The major difference however is that Panda is staffed at the top with actual human raters instead of just computers, and then computers are used at a lower level to copy the human raters.
Then, once the algorithm catches on how to predict the same scores that the humans scored the same websites the algorithm is released for use on websites online and this is where you need to know how to adapt so that your ranking does not drop.
First off, it is important to take a look at how a human would look at a website, because you need to look at it the way that Panda will. It is also important to realize that the Panda algorithm judges an entire website and not just one page, therefore, you have to make sure that all of your web pages are top of the line because it is a shame to watch your entire website and hard work get degraded because of one loss end on the website that you never had to worry about before.
The second tip goes back to thinking like a human, because that essentially is how Panda is taught to look. For instance, it hates the things that a real browser would hate such as content that is buried inside of the website and is hard to find. If there are tons of ads you will get marked down for this as no one wants to see a bunch of ads while they are trying to read. If the template is taking up all of the space you will want to consider replacing it with one that offers better content.
Another thing to take a look at is the way that your links are treated, because you want links that are valuable. Links that link to other sources of content will bring you down. You also need to think about how relevant your links are, because links that are not really related to your website will bring you down the same way that having varied content posted all over your website will be confusing and bring you down as well. Simply altering these things can be all you need to win over Panda’s hearts and see your ranking go right back up where it belongs.
